BLUES TRAVELER AND THE WALLFLOWERS TO HEADLINE SUFFOLK AME'S THIRD ANNUAL MAYDAY MUSIC FESTIVAL

For the first time since its inception, Suffolk AME’s Mayday Music Festival featuring live music, craft vendors, and fun-filled activities for children will move to the Amphitheater at Bald Hill.

The Suffolk County Association of Municipal Employees (Suffolk AME), which represents over approximately 8,000 active and retired workers, is thrilled to announce that the 3rd Annual Mayday Music Festival will be held at the Amphitheater at Bald Hill in Farmingville on May 13, 2023.

Each year, the Mayday Music Festival serves as a celebration of the contributions of all working men and women, while simultaneously raising awareness for the continued success of the labor movement as it evolves into the modern era.

A wholly non-profit endeavor presented in partnership between Suffolk AME and the Long Island Federation of Labor, AFL-CIO, the Mayday Music Festival is a family-friendly event, with all net proceeds funding charitable causes—from providing scholarships for union members and their families to helping to put food on our neighbors’ tables through our support of Long Island Cares: The Harry Chapin Food Bank.

Booked in partnership with The Bowery Presents, Suffolk AME is proud to announce that the 2023 Mayday Music Festival will feature an all-star lineup of headlining acts including:

  • Blues Traveler
  • The Wallflowers
  • Wheatus
  • John Hampson (Singer Nine Days//“Absolutely (Story of a Girl)”)

Musical ensembles from regional and emerging talent include Pete Mancini & the Hillside Airmen opening the Main Stage, as well as Dirty Vice Band, MJT, The Belle Curves, and Quarter Horse, who will be headlining the regional stage lineup. The festival will also once again feature performances by the Port Jefferson School of Rock.

Launched in May of 2019, the Mayday Music Festival seeks to promote solidarity, not only between Labor Unions, but among all working men and women and their families.

Suffolk AME President Daniel C. Levler said, "Our Labor brothers and sisters are part of a robust and altruistic community, dedicated to serving our county every day. As the Labor movement continues to evolve and unite working men and women across many different industries, AME is proud to showcase the accomplishments of our collective movement. The true spirit of the Mayday Music Festival is rooted in building a deeper appreciation for the contributions of working men and women through music. Along with our generous sponsors and partners in Labor, we are thrilled to host the Third Annual Mayday Music Festival and can't wait to see you there!"

In between sets, attendees can stroll through vendor displays and a market featuring local craft merchants, community organizations, and stop to meet our local Labor Union peers and generous sponsors. A family-friendly day for music lovers of all ages, the Mayday Music Festival will also feature activities for the kids, including face painting.

Delicious food, craft beers, and spirits are available from our concession stands, so there is sure to be something for everyone to enjoy!
