FOUR SUFFOLK AME MEMBER SCHOLARSHIPS TO OPEN IN SEPTEMBER!

APPLICATIONS AVAILABLE STARTING SEPTEMBER 3, 2024.

Mark your calendars, Suffolk AME members! Starting September 3rd, four exclusive Suffolk AME Member Scholarships will become available. These scholarships are specifically designed to support and empower our dedicated members who are pursuing higher education. We understand the importance of investing in our members' growth and success, and these scholarships aim to provide financial assistance and encouragement along their educational journeys.

All of the below scholarships will be awarded in November 2024. The scholarships are open from September 3 - September 30, and must be returned no later than September 30, 2024.

► Suffolk AME Member Lottery Scholarship: Applications available September 3. The AME Scholarship Fund will award scholarships, by lottery, for its members who have applied. All applicants must be enrolled in programs at accredited institutions of higher learning, including BOCES, during the Fall 2024 semester. All applications and a paid Bursar’s receipt must be returned to AME Headquarters at 30 Orville Drive, Suite A, Bohemia, NY 11716, no later than Monday, September 30, 2024. | Learn more

► Charles Novo Jr. Memorial Scholarship: Applications available September 3. The Charles Novo Jr. Scholarship was established by the Union in 2007 to honor the memory of Charles Novo Jr., who created Suffolk AME, now one of the largest independent Labor Unions in the State of New York. ► Debbie Heitleband Memorial Scholarship: Applications available September 3. This scholarship is awarded in fond remembrance of Ms. Debbie Heitleband, a former President of the Finance & Technology Unit, and an AME member for 28 years. Debbie was a dedicated AME Officer, member, and supporter. She brought vital information to the Board of Directors Meetings and conventions, which she attended for more than 24 years. Debbie lost her life in a tragic automobile accident, and AME’s brothers and sisters lost a loyal and dedicated member and supporter.‣ 2024 Essay Topic: Labor Heroes Throughout History | Learn more

► Dorie Rossiter Memorial Scholarship: Applications available September 3. This scholarship was established by our Union in 2009 to honor the memory of one of our beloved charter members. Dorie Rossiter joined Charles Novo Jr., in the decertification fight in 1984, which successfully resulted in the creation of the Suffolk County Association of Municipal Employees, Inc. Dorie Rossiter was an avid volunteer and committee member and was always in attendance at the AME Convention.
